Whether you’re travelling internationally or planning to travel from region to region in Colombia, here are ways to get to Bogota.

BY PLane

As Bogota is the capital of Colombia, the main international airport is situated in this city. You’ll be able to catch various flights from all over the globe to touch down at El Dorado International Airport.

The only airline that flies direct from London is the national carrier Avianca. The flight time is just under 10 hours.

By Bus

If you’re looking to get to Bogota from other cities and regions in Colombia, the bus services are a great option to travel to and fro. Car rental services are available in bigger cities but Colombian roads can be bumpy and tricky to master for travellers. 

How to Get Around Bogota, Colombia

The best way to get around this massive city is by the TransMilenio, a Bus Rapid Transit incorporated to deal with the influx of individuals moving to Bogota.  With 12 lines and over 1,500 buses operating, it’s an easy and practical way to travel to various neighbourhoods in the city.

Travelling as a family we opted for a taxi, which is another affordable option. The taxis are metered but do not actually show the cost of the trip. It’s a good idea to check the price of the journey before getting in.
