With beamed ceilings, flagstone floors, log fires and a welcoming bar – it’s the ideal place to call home when on a countryside jaunt.

The five luxury en-suite bedrooms above The Bell pub are each elegantly furnished. A soothing colour palette, tartan accents and crisp cotton linen provide a luxurious backdrop.

To aid your relaxation there are handmade shortbreads, a selection of tea and Nespresso coffee. Oh and your very own decanter of Port.

The little touches are where it really excels. They even have straighteners in each room. Ladies you’re sold aren’t you?

And as well as supplying the usual forgotten items like a toothbrush, toothpaste and disposable razors – you’ll find cufflinks, a tie and tights on the list too!

On the food front, The Bell’s menu will tempt your tastebuds with seasonal produce and ingredients predominantly sourced from local suppliers and growers.

We dined on the most deliciously fresh-tasting tomato and basil soup…

…A pimped-up veggie macaroni bake with pan-fried lemony artichokes, aubergine, kale and basil, topped with a pine nut and herb crust.

…and a vegan superfood salad with avocado, quinoa, pea, spinach, broccoli, toasted pumpkin seeds and citrus dressing. So that’s the plant-eaters sorted, the carnivores can rejoice in the local award-winning butcher, Lambournes providing 8oz steaks.

Breakfasts are hearty affairs, with fruit, cereals, an assortment of bread and spreads available as a buffet and a range of tasty hot dishes from a separate menu.

My morning started with a delicious fluffy omelette with cheese and mushroom and a side of beans. Don’t fear you’ll find the traditional blogger breakfast too a.k.a. smashed avo.

The beautiful market town of Stow-on-the-Wold is only a ten-minute taxi ride from the nearest station Moreton-in-Marsh. It’s one of the prettiest towns in Gloucestershire with honey-coloured buildings, boutiques, antique emporiums and cute little tea shops
